To foster collaborative relationships with the key opinion leaders (KOLs) and to facilitate the exchange of unbiased scientific information between the medical community and stakeholders. The MSL will establish relationships with clinical and research leaders including, but not limited to, academicians, clinicians, directors of pharmacy and other health care professionals. 

  • Engage in meaningful proactive and reactive peer-to-peer discussions with healthcare professionals regarding the respective disease state via scientific exchange.
  • Develop strong relationships with emerging healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders and key academic institutions and researchers by developing medical scientific presentations, 1to1’ with leading experts.
  • Interact with Healthcare Professionals to develop educational materials (e.g. disease monographs, publications, slides) for educational purposes at academic centers or community-based programs. Understanding the status and identifying opportunities for evolving Standards of care in relevant therapeutic areas
  • Support field operations through presentations of scientific exchange to targeted audiences 
  • Actively participate in Speaker Training, Advisory Boards, Round Table discussions, National and Regional Medical Conferences and internal committee meetings, as needed. Attend international congresses and if needed provide summaries of presentations, symposiums for internal and external use
  • Work collaborative with the Center of Excellence (CoE) Medical Affairs on biosimilars and  with the CoE on other therapeutic area’s (where MSL activities are needed on an ad hoc base), and align frequently to ensure the execution of the regional medical strategy in Belgium/Luxembourg. 
  • Provide information on new research directions, ideas, practices in patient care and identify unmet medical needs.
  • Act as a liaison between National and Regional Thought Leaders and company to extend the Medical Affairs brand strategy.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of published literature in the respective therapeutic are of specialization as well as attend meetings and congresses sponsored by the influential leaders of the respective therapeutic area for educational purposes.
  • Review, evaluate, and channel information to the appropriate personnel and provide timely responses to requests regarding product or disease information assuring that all activities and reporting methodologies are compliant with Company and Regional policies.
  • Be an active member of the regional Biosimilars Medical team and of the regional Medical Teams for other therapeutic area’s (where MSL activities are needed on an ad hoc base) and partner in affiliate cross functional team.
  • Responsible for the transmission of quality complaints and adverse events to the responsible person and local representative for Pharmacovigilance within 24 hours. Commits to complete all mandatory trainings to meet compliancy needs in terms of GDP/GMP regulations.

Profile

Academic by education (Pharmaceutical/ Life sciences) solid medical/technical background

Previous experience in medical function in pharma industry. Knowledge of the Medical Science Liaison roles and responsibilities are a plus. Understand compliance within the Standards for Interactions with Healthcare Providers, promotional laws and regulations, and the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics is a basic requirement; 

Must have advanced scientific education, training, and/or experience in one of the following therapeutic areas, allergy/immunology, respiratory/ pulmonology, CNS, anesthesia, metabolic disorders, or oncology; 

Ability to understand complex mathematical problems including biostatistics. 

Scientific expertise of therapeutic area, patient-treatment trends, clinical trials and scientific activities within different therapeutic areas is a plus

Working knowledge of the healthcare system and research procedures, as well as the ICH guidelines, GCP and other ethical guidelines relevant to the industry.

Fluent in English, French and Dutch (oral and written communication)
